“If Amarra is one thing, it’s high quality. Amarra’s sound quality is without a doubt excellent, if not amazing.” Erik Vlietinck, IT Enquirer

“How does it sound? In a word, sublime… Great sound, simple to set up, and an intuitive user-interface.” Joe Quinn, Hifi Zine

“…We had the opportunity to compare side by side, Amarra against iTunes alone, and there, from my point of view, the advantage is clearly in favor of Amarra, …, in a word with Amarra it’s musical.” — Marc Philip, Magazine Audio

Release Notes 6/26/13

Sonic Releases Amarra v2.5.1
Sonic Studio is delighted to announce the release of software version 2.5.1 for the Amarra line of music players for the Mac. Version 2.5.1 is a free update to all owners of Amarra, and includes a number of new features and enhancements based on customer comments and requests.

Track Progress Slider – (Amarra Symphony and Amarra) A new scrollable bead in the Amarra window that follows the progress of the track current playing. Similar in operation to the song scroll bar in iTunes, the Track Progress Slider is perfect for users who prefer Amarra Playlist mode.

New “P” Button for Preloading – (Amarra Symphony and Amarra) toggles preloading of tracks based on your preference settings in Amarra. Review your Amarra Preferences to change the number of tracks you’ve elected to preload, then you can turn the mode on and off using the P Button.

Note: for best results when preloading tracks, make sure to disable ‘shuffle’ in iTunes and sort by song title. If you are preloading an entire album, sort albums by artist. Also, Amarra will preload the preferenced number of songs until it encounters a track with a different sample rate. You can see the preloaded tracks by clicking the “Tracks” button on Amarra’s front panel.

Updates to Sonic Studio Process – (Amarra Symphony and Amarra) Process is Sonic’s world-class up and down sample rate converter. We’ve added improved support for non-interleaved stereo files. Note that Sonic Studio Process for Amarra is designed for up/down sampling between 44.1 and 192kHz. Process also integrates FLAC to AIFF file conversion.

Purge Memory Command – Upon launch, Amarra will notify you if your computer has inactive and give you the option to clear that memory for use.

Inactive memory is typically left over when processes or applications quit, but don’t released the memory for other apps or processes to use.

We have found that a large amount of inactive memory can be a cause occurance of ‘skipping’ or clipping off of fronts or endings of tracks in Amarra, and by releasing inactive memory your system will work overall more smoothly and efficiently.

We have also added a manual purge memory command under the FILE =>Extras Menu should you choose to run it manually.

Stability Enhancements – You’ll find 2.5.1 to be the most stable and easy to use Amarra, ever. Jon and the engineering team, our beta test group, and everyone at Sonic Studio encourage to you download and enjoy Amarra 2.5.1 as soon as possible.
